The origins of the Flat cap span way back to the 14th century where they were worn by Italians and referred to as "Bonnets" the hat proved highly successful and was adopted all across Europe and America where it was rebranded "Cap" there were many different variances on this term through out the world with the English referring to it as a "Cheese Cutter Cap" because of its wedge shape. The flat cap found itself firmly embodied within British culture in 1571 when the British parliament decided to pass an act which stated that on Sunday's and all holidays a flat cap must be worn by every male over the age of 6.
