Distressed Jeans and Used Jeans - What's the Difference?

Distressed jeans brand new mimic the normal wear of used jeans, but the only significant difference is the price. Distressed designer jeans can cost hundreds of dollars, while a decent pair of used jeans would cost you a tenth of the price and you will still see visible similarities between the two. Why pay so much more for a pair of jeans abused by a machine, when you could save a boatload of money buying second hand jeans from somebody who actually has pride in taking decent care of them?
